Riku's another character I took an immediate liking to. He's a bit of a dreamer, like Kairi, only more eager to leave his island home and see what else is out there, almost desperately so. He's a year older than Sora and Kairi and that makes him just a bit more mature in the way he talks and acts, but he still has the same innocence as his friends, the same childlike purity of intention that they do. Although at this point in the game (I haven't finished KH yet, so no spoiling it for me!) I'm a little suspicious about some of the choices he's made, I don't think I'd ever be able to believe that there's anything truly sinister about Riku.
I'm quite satisfied with this drawing, even if it is just a sketch. This is my first try at Riku, and it turned out even better than Kairi's. Somehow he turned out looking even more muscular than I intended, though. ^_^; I'm not too worried about it though, since most KH characters are "chibified" to a certain degree anyways.
But I really, really hated drawing his collar. To rectify this problem, from now on I will draw Riku shirtless.
This drawing - as well as the sketch of Kairi - were based on their illustrations in the Kingdom Hearts manual. I used a mechanical pencil for this one as well.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
